The event will showcase the history of the R.A.A.F. from WW1, WW2 and modern-day military hardware like the new F-35 Joint Strike Fighter … and may well be the last time we see the RAAF ageing F-18 Hornet fighters.
Arriving in Melbourne on the Thursday afternoon, we’re transferred by private shuttle to our CBD hotel with that evening being at leisure. Friday morning we are picked up and again transferred by private shuttle to the R.A.A.F base at Point Cook to explore the Air Force museum. Outside and also under hangar are static aircraft that has been in service over the years – such as the Mirage, F-111, F4 Phantom, Caribou, Canberra bomber, Sopworth Pup, P-51 Mustang, Havoc bomber and many more.
From here we’re on to the Avalon Airshow’s afternoon flying display and evenings fireworks display.
Saturday and Sunday are again at the Avalon Airshow – with so many stalls, static aircraft to wander around and see as well as the aerial flying displays. Our accommodation is centrally located in the CBD that getting to and from the airshow on the Saturday and Sunday is done at your leisure by train which is extremely efficient and handy so no long walks. It also enables us to dine at one of the many bars and restaurants or enjoy some shopping or sightseeing near our hotel as well.
Monday morning (unless otherwise pre-arranged) we are again transferred by private shuttle back to the airport for our departure.
Please note that this itinerary can be tailored to suit your needs, so that if you wanted to stay on longer or arrive earlier that’s no problem… and if you’d like to meet us there – ie; if you already live in Australia or Melbourne then that’s no problem either.
