Wings Over Wairarapa is taking off again in early 2023. The Hood Aerodrome and festival grounds are set to see spectacular action back in the skies with family friendly activities, hospitality and entertainment on the ground.
Hood aerodrome was opened in 1931 and was dedicated to a young aviation pioneer, Captain George Hood. The aerodrome is predominantly home to recreational and vintage aircraft activity, but also has flight training, skydiving, aerial topdressing services, aircraft maintenance, parachute and hot air balloon repairs, vintage aircraft airshows and the biennial Wings over Wairarapa Airshow.
The beautiful Wairarapa provides a stunning backdrop to an extravaganza of aerial action over three days. You will see over 70 aircraft including vintage, military, jets, helicopters, aerobatic displays, skydiving and much more! In addition to the spectacular flying programme, there are fantastic ground displays and activities for small and big kids alike.
Hood Aerodrome is also home to the Vintage Aviator (TVAL) – world leaders in WWI aircraft restoration! This is the first time since WW1 that these aircraft are being produced in a factory setting, so you’re likely to see a vast array of static and flying displays from some amazing WWI aircraft seen like nowhere else!

High Flyer
The best seats and most exclusive experience. Situated to have the best views of the runway and skies, grandstand seating, a marquee with additional covered seating, catering and bar, plus dedicated luxury amenities and reserved parking – this is the perfect spot to enjoy your weekend at Wings. Included with your pass is all day tea and coffee, a buffet lunch, afternoon tea and all beverages, plus a Memorabilia Programme, GA and Premium Pass area access on Friday. Parking: Details to come.

Premium Pass
Guaranteed a premium grass spot and uninterrupted view of the runway, marquee with additional undercover seating, luxury amenities and reserved parking. A limited number of Memorabilia Programmes will be available for purchase at an additional cost during the event.
