2020 Flying Legends Airshow: Duxford, UK

8-10th July 2022

Flying legends 2022 will be held at Sywell Aerodrome Northampton on the 8-12th July 2022 (COVID-19 status dependant).

One of the oldest and best (if not the best) airshow events on the planet! A “must do/bucket list” airshow you have to see at some stage in your lifetime.
On display are timeless classics of the WWI & WWII eras to post-war and modern day military aircraft – from all theatres of war: Europe, The Middle East, Asia and the Pacific. With record numbers of Merlin and radial engines filling the skies, the static and flying displays and the smell of Avgas will leave you in awe.

Last year saw a range of aircraft on static and flying display. The airfield is home to an impressive range of World War I and II aircraft which are kept in pristine condition!

We have access to a handful of accommodation options in the area. However – they do book up well in advance, so if you’re serious about staying close to the action, don’t delay!

The Coach House

The Coach House

One of our favourites is a traditional old English pub, set in the countryside underneath the flight path to the Duxford Airfield. Quaint comfortable rooms, a garden bar and restaurant and great English hospitality.

Simple rooms have free WiFi, flat-screen TVs, and tea and coffee making facilities.

Full English breakfast and parking are included. The restaurant offers classic pub-style cuisine and a Sunday carvery. Nothing like enjoying the English countryside with a cold pint with Spitfires flying overhead!

We can also arrange other travel add-ons in the United Kingdom or Europe from visiting the Battle of Britain Memorial Centre at RAF base Coningsby, the RAF Museum at Hendon or even river boat cruises through Europe or getting a rental car and exploring.

No visit to the Flying Legends airshow would be complete without a visit to the famous Imperial War Museum. Be dwarfed by the B-52 and Concorde; get up close to famous Second World War classics including the Spitfire, Lancaster and Tiger Moth; and stare up into the guts of the Vulcan bomber. There is so much to discover at IWM Duxford.

Explore how Britain’s air defences developed from the First World War through to the Cold War and discover how the RAF defended its skies during key battles in the Second World War. In the Duxford’s People in the Battle of Britain exhibition, explore seven personal stories of those who served at RAF Duxford during this famous aerial battle. RAF Duxford was pivotal in the Battle of Britain and the first Spitfires flew from the historic airfield that is still in use today. Private tours of the hangar last approximately one to one-and-a-half hours.
